Creative Residents 2024

Over 12 months, the CCP Creative Residency program provides access to the CCP community, a vibrant creative-hub in the heart of Fitzroy, and helps emerging and established creatives to build networks and achieve outcomes. Bringing together photographers, curators, writers, and designers, the Creative Residency incorporates professional development opportunities, mentorships, and networking. 

The CCP Creative Residency Program is supported by Milieu Property.

Meg De Young

Meg De Young is a visual artist, living and working in Naarm. Her current research and practice considers how social structures influence the experience of women and how collaboration and performance can bring new meaning to the narratives that surround this. She completed her Honours (First Class) in photography in 2021. She won the Ballarat GradFoto 2021 Exhibition for her ongoing project The Conversations We Have which was selected as the cover for Der Greif’s latest release ‘The Collectivity Issue’ and was selected to take part in PHOTO 2022’s PHOTO Lab with Magnum Photos. Meg has also completed a Diploma of Community Services and Diploma in Visual Arts, majoring in painting.

Oliver Foster

Oliver Foster is a photographer from Aotearoa (New Zealand). His practice is based around documenting and investigating his everyday surroundings. Often taking photos of things that might seem banal to most, Oliver aims to be curious of what is around him and take time to notice. Oliver studied at Massey University, Wellington and graduated in 2020 with First Class Honours.

Kelvin Lau

Kelvin Lau is a photomedia-based artist with extensive academic and clinical experience within the health profession. He has a PhD in qualitative visual research from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Arts in Photography from Photography Studies College. He is interested in exploring methods for incorporating therapeutic photography practices into Australian primary health care. Kelvin’s personal practice explores the lived experience of distress, identity disruption, and transitional states.

Ming Liew

Ming Liew is a lens-based artist and a PhD student at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Ming’s practice draws upon his Chinese-Australian bicultural identity, combining ethnography and visual storytelling to examine the first-generation immigrant experience in contemporary Australia.

Jo Duck

Jo Duck is a fine art and advertising photographer. Inspired by all things camp, joyful, and absurd, Duck’s work radiates an optimism that contributes to a distinctive strange and heartwarming style. Duck has exhibited work at CCP (Mel), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam) and has a solo exhibition at Photo 2024.

Finn Goldstraw

Considering himself both an artist and photographer, Finn Goldstraw lives and works in Naarm. Focusing primarily on street and documentary photography, he also creates works that explore the three-dimensionality and technical aspects of photography using collaging techniques and found objects. Finn studied at Monash University and graduated in 2023.

Kyle Archie Knight

Kyle Archie Knight is a Wiradjuri queer photographic artist. He graduated from RMIT University with a Bachelor of Arts (Photography) (First Class Honours) in 2022. His focus on transforming humdrum suburban life with a Camp vision in Naarm (Melbourne) led to his acclaimed project ‘Cruising for a Bruising’. Knight’s work has been showcased in prestigious exhibitions, and he’s now recognised for both documentary and commercial photography, notably in First Nations and fashion arenas.

Gabrielle Hall-Lomax

Gabrielle Hall-Lomax is visual artist based in Naarm. Her practice is rooted in an autobiographical context and primarily deconstructs perceptions of identity, femininity and cultural histories through analogue photography and moving image. She holds a Master of Arts and Cultural Management from The University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from RMIT.
