Join CCP Director Daniel Boetker-Smith, Dan Rule (Perimeter Books) and Jan Wenzel (Spector Books) on Wednesday 7 February for an evening discussion on the landscapes of Photobooks.
6:30 – 7:30pm
Free event. No booking required.
Jan Wenzel is an editor, writer and artist. In 2001, he co-founded Spector Books publishing house. As an author and editor he has collaborated on numerous book projects.
Spector Books’s publishing practice is settled squarely in the intersection of art, theory, and design. Based in Leipzig Germany, our publishing house explores the possibilities offered by an active exchange between all parties involved in the book production process: artists, authors, book designers, lithographers, printers and bookbinders. The book as medium is turned into a stage, a site of encounter for productive exchange. Finding innovative approaches to the medium today calls for a well considered interplay between the content, design, and materiality of a book.
Dan Rule is a publisher, writer and editor from Melbourne, Australia. He is the co-director of Perimeter Books, Perimeter Distribution and Perimeter Editions, for which he has published, edited and written for upward of seventy books on contemporary photographers and artists from around the world.
Dan was a longstanding visual art critic for Melbourne newspaper The Saturday Age, a design and architecture columnist for The Age, the former editor and editor-at-large of Vault magazine and the former co-editor of Composite Journal.
Daniel Boetker-Smith is the Director of CCP. He is also an educator, writer, publisher, and photographer. He specialises in writing about photography, narrative, photobooks, photo-novels, and the image in printed form. He is a regular writer/contributor to the British Journal of Photography, FOAM Magazine, GUP Magazine, European Photography, Voices of Photography, Vault, Photoeye, Paper Journal, Heavy, Source, and other Australian and international publications.
