2020 ILFORD CCP Salon

Supported by Milieu

Just because we're physically distanced, doesn’t mean our photos need to be! Calling out to long-term participants and new friends: the ILFORD CCP Salon — supported by Milieu is back.

ENTRIES ARE OPEN. CLICK HERE TO ENTER.

Entries close 5pm, Friday 11 December 2020

Much about the 2020 Salon is as you remember it. We’re still Australia’s largest photomedia competition and exhibition, annually drawing entries from over 450 artists across the country. By entering, your work is still guaranteed exhibition in one of Australia’s premier contemporary gallery spaces, with the opportunity for an esteemed judging panel of artists and arts professionals to award you with one of 33 prize categories. Salon is still a fantastic opportunity to gain exhibition experience and see your artwork on CCP’s walls. Above all, Salon remains a remarkable survey of photomedia artistic practice in our community, complete with that distinctive ‘salon’ hang.

While the heart of the ILFORD CCP Salon remains the same, CCP is pleased to announce that for the first time the exhibition will be presented both online and in the gallery. By exhibiting all works on an online platform, participants and audiences can share in the visual delight of the 2020 Salon, regardless of their ability to visit the gallery. The online show also allows one to take their time and view works in detail at their leisure. For any artworks that catch your eye in the gallery, you will now be able to revisit, review and even purchase these at ccp.org.au.

The 2020 Salon will still be a summer affair, however, the exhibition dates have slightly shifted from previous exhibitions to accommodate Victoria’s coronavirus restrictions. The exhibition will be a survey of our community’s work through 2020, but will exhibit online and in the gallery from 16 January to 6 February 2021.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis and the financial hardship it has caused, CCP has significantly reduced the entry price for the 2020 Salon. Full price entries are now $45 each and concession entries are $25 each. Please note that entries remain restricted to six per entrant. CCP hopes this goes some way to helping as many artists participate in the competition and exhibition as possible.

CCP would like to thank all 2020 ILFORD CCP Salon — supported by Milieu sponsors and partners for their support and collective contribution of over $16, 000 worth of prizes. We are delighted to announce the Judging Panel: CCP Curator Jack Willet; NGV Curator of Indigenous Art Myles Russell-Cook; RMIT Lecturer of Photography Dr Alison Bennett; and CCP Assistant Gallery Manager Hugh Hirst-Johnson (Non-Voting Chair).

As there are a number of changes to how Salon is run this year, CCP requires that all entrants carefully read the Salon Conditions of Entry and Essential Information Kit. If you have any questions after reviewing these documents, please contact salon@ccp.org.au. To ensure the health and safety of artists, staff and audiences, COVID-safe protocols for the staging of the exhibition will be made available for entrants and the general public closer to the date of artwork drop-off.

We look forward to receiving your entries!
