Yiorgalletos is the character I have devised to explore themes of isolation, solitude and a longing for love. He is a peculiar creature who is a survivor in a world that has lost its sense of compassion. In many ways he is a hero because, although different in appearance, he never gives up his quest for life, love and happiness. Yiorgalletos' reconstructed costume and persona becomes a metaphor for the loneliness created by society's intolerance for people who veer from the mainstream and that which is accepted. My images depict this sense of hopelessness, futility and solitude. Yet, it is my hope the character of Yiorgalletos becomes endearing to us because we get to know him and despite his eccentricities, let him into our heart in ways we would not a complete stranger.
