Shock in the Ear is an experimental new media artwork composed through interactive stories, performances, music, sound and screens. It investigates shock experiences, tactics and aesthetics, expressing the shocking concept that sound is the medium most appropriate to interactivity. As a new and engaging art form, sound goes beyond the interface into time, the body and imagination. Shock in the Ear approaches the moment of shock and its aftermath as a sensual experience. Refusing the slickness and control of cyberspace, this CD-Rom explores instead the potential of new media to create poetic movement, understandings, emotions, and sensations.
