A cross-cultural interactive multimedia art-work located in the artist's personal experiences of Tunisia (North Africa) and subtly challenging stereotypes about gender and culture in this region.
The theme is writing: ancient and contemporary writing; writing's historical link with drawing and early sacred images; writing the human-computer interface. Through interacting with this work, the viewer learns some Tunisian Arabic (as s/he might during an actual visit) and can start to read written arabic at a basic level. The work contains original images, calligraphy and soundtrack, reflecting Tunisian rhythms, culture and music.
