Material From Another Medium originated from initial questions concerning the representation of time, light and constructed space and their synthesis in perception.
Using a combination of digital video and spatial intervention, the work extends Von Sturmer's previous investigations into time as a palpable, malleable substance.
Material From Another Medium sees the reconfiguration of the gallery's architecture to accommodate video projections. This spatial shift creates an environment in which to explore the relationship between pictorial and physical space, expectation and perception. It gives emphasis to the physical, temporal and architectural constructions that frame the cultural experience of looking at a work in a gallery.
