CCP LIMITED EDITION PRINT 2008
Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP) is the pre-eminent Victorian organisation for the exhibition of contemporary photo-based arts, providing a context for the enjoyment, education, understanding and appraisal of contemporary practice.
Following her major exhibition _Hall of Mirrors: Anne Zahalka Portraits 1987200_7 at CCP and the subsequent nationwide tour, Anne Zahalka releases in a larger size, limited edition of her key work, The Bathers 1989, in support of CCP. One of Zahalkas renowned series, Bondi: Playground of the Pacific, The Bathers is now in the collection of National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales, National Gallery of Victoria, Jewish Museum of Australia and The National Maritime Museum, as well as private collections.
The Bathers takes inspiration from the celebrated Charles Meere painting Australian Beach Pattern 193840. Emblematic of the diversity of Australian culture, The Bathers continues to be widely reproduced in publications as well as on book covers and posters.
Funds raised through the CCP Limited Edition Print 2008 enable CCP to support the practice and presentation of contemporary photography through provision of exhibitions, education and public programs as well as publishing.
The Bathers will be on view at CCP Friday 5 and Saturday 6 September 2008, 11am6pm.
Anne Zahalka is represented by Arc One Gallery, Melbourne and Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, Sydney.
