Exploring a wide variety of themes expressed through the media of sculpture, photography, digital media and installation, Melbourne-based artist Anthony Hunt has concentrated on incorporating computer-based work into his art practise. All the Three Letter Words in the English Language (2002) is the latest example of this approach, combining sound and text to create a humorous digital work. Inspired by art which uses language as its subject - such as On Kawara, Ed Ruscha, and Art & Language - the work presents all 972 three letter words in the English language, sourced from an online list compiled by the San Jose Scrabble(r) Club. With this list converted to a short QuickTime video clip cum-Jackpot machine, the words become barely intelligible.
