Session 1 — Sat 28 Oct (at CCP)

Presentation and Practical Field Trip

From shooting in the street, through to composition, technique, and editing, Jesse Marlow will present an in-depth insight into his own practice and style. Following the morning presentation the group will travel to the Melbourne CBD for a practical session of shooting on the street. The session will focus on enhancing photographic techniques, building confidence and overcoming inhibitions when shooting in public place as well as a discussion on street photography etiquette and the legal rights of a street photographer.

Session 2 — Sat 11 Nov (at CCP)

Private Folio Review

Participants will return with an edit of images from the field trip along with older work, for a one-on-one 30 minute portfolio review with Jesse Marlow.

Participants must have a working knowledge of their camera.

About Jesse Marlow

Jesse Marlow is a Melbourne-based artist. Over the past 17 years he has worked for a range of local and international magazines, newspapers and commercial clients. Marlow has produced a number of photo books, including Don't Just Tell Them, Show Them (2014); Wounded (2005); and Centre Bounce: Football from Australia's Heart (2003). In addition, he was one of 45 street photographers from around the world profiled in the Thames & Hudson book Street Photography Now (2010) and the recently published World Atlas of Street Photography (Thames & Hudson). Marlow won the Monash Gallery of Art Bowness Prize in 2012 and was the inaugural winner of both the International Street Photography Prize in 2011 and the Australian Hasselblad X-Pan Masters competition in 2002. Marlow is a member of the international street photographers collective and his works are held in public and private collections across Australia and abroad. Marlow is represented by M.33 in Melbourne and SEA - Jacky Winter Group
