KODAK CAREERS IN PHOTOGRAPHY

A program for VCE and tertiary students

Careers in Photography will explore pathways to becoming a professional photographer through various avenues of professional practice: photojournalism, commercial and art photography.

Bringing together exemplary practitioners in their fields; Meredith O’Shea will speak on her work as a freelance photojournalist; Bronek Kozka will address his work as a commercial photographer; Chantal Faust, artist/lecturer in Critical and Theoretical Studies, Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne, will speak on developing a life as an art photographer; Andrew Kopp will speak about his work as a commercial photographer and setting up a business, specialising in family and wedding photography; and Paul Gurney, Operations Manager, Next Wave Festival, will speak about photography courses available, issues facing graduates and how to get started. Peter Cocklin, Kodak, Group Business Development Manager Professional, will introduce the seminar and Michael Nichols, CCP Education Officer, will chair the sessions.

Other issues addressed will be training, support networks, keeping informed, studio spaces, employment opportunities, galleries, grants, promoting yourself, getting started and making decisions about a career in photography.

Taking place in CCP’s Visy Education space, the seminar is limited to 25 participants, so book early to avoid disappointment. Refreshments will be provided.
